Weekly seminar

from 250,000 VND / 2-hour sessionWeekly · 8–10pm

For self-directed high-school and university students who want a regular space to sharpen their thinking and argumentation, whether you are actively competing or just want to build critical thinking and debate skills as a life skill.

  • Weekly motion breakdowns, speech reviews and topic deep-dives, based on what the class asks for
  • Runs year-round, so you can drop in for new angles and consistent practice alongside your own self-study
  • Between sessions: polls, articles and practice exercises to keep you engaged
  • After every session: recording, written summary and a feedback form to shape upcoming topics
  • One-time registration adds you automatically each week, no need to re-book

Best for: Debaters with some foundation who can self-study and want continued sparring partners for ideas. Not built for complete beginners who need close, step-by-step guidance, as the class size is too large for that.

from 800,000 VND / 2-hour sessionShared amongst 1–6 students · Book on your own schedule

For competitive teams or friend groups who want closer, tailored coaching. No rigid pre-set curriculum, so the plan is built around your team’s level and goals, and the format flexes to what you need: a single diagnostic session, focused prep before one tournament, or ongoing weekly coaching through the season.

  • Diagnose current strengths, weaknesses and where to focus
  • Review tournament performance and speeches
  • Map a longer-term development plan, or drill in on one upcoming competition
  • Flexible booking, so you pick times that work for your group instead of a fixed weekly slot
  • After every session: recording, written summary and a feedback form
  • Price is fixed per session regardless of group size, so bigger teams pay less per person (max 6)

Best for: Teams wanting a long-term coaching partner, sharper diagnosis of strengths and weaknesses, focused prep before a key tournament, or just a session or two to figure out direction.

I know what it’s like to start as an EFL speaker

I did not begin as a polished English speaker, but I built my fluency through debating. I still forget English words in Major elimination rounds, and I have won them anyway.

I learnt to debate to my strength

My speaker average took years to reach 80. Across more than 600 competitive rounds, I learnt to debate to my own strengths rather than imitate someone else’s.

I have tested my values and philosophies

I have debated with so many different people, from competitive debaters to complete novices, to litmus test my philosophies and values. I have won tournaments with people debating for the first time ever.

Not the usual debate class.

No fragmented chats, Zoom links, files and payment reminders scattered across Facebook, Zalo and email. Everything runs on one learning platform, so learning is the only thing you need to focus on.

Debate without the fear

Most debaters lose rounds because they’re scared: scared of running out of things to say, scared of being wrong, scared of losing.

In session, we build the foundations you need to make and prove the hardest argument you can think of, fast. You stop debating scared once you realize your opponent doesn’t need to be wrong for you to win.

Debate what excites you

Every motion has an angle you actually care about. Find it instead of what you think the judge “expects” from you.

Leverage your opponent’s engagement to push your case further, into arguments and ideas you didn’t see at first. It’s hard not to make progress when you’re always debating what excites you.

Debate on your terms

Control what the judge remembers, when they remember it, and what your opponent has to scramble to respond to.

We work through pacing, positioning and pressure until they become foundational skills, giving you a level of control over the round that clearly separates your performance from debaters who haven’t developed them yet.

Do I need debate experience to join?

If you have no intention of competing and simply want to build the mental cues to think like a debater, the seminar format suits that well.

I would not recommend it as your first introduction to the sport, though. With a class this size I won’t have the time to guide you personally and make sure you keep up. Having given a few speeches, prepped a case, or done one or two spars is enough of a foundation.

Is the class in English or Vietnamese?

You choose when you register: Vietnamese, English, or either. I use that to place you in a class.

Whichever language a class runs in, some advanced concepts or competition materials may be discussed in English where that is clearer. One of my goals is to strongly encourage students to compete in open tournaments outside Vietnam, in English.

Can I try one session before committing?

The seminar is not a free trial, but there is no long-term course commitment. You can begin with one paid session and decide whether to continue afterwards.

Is it online or in person?

Sessions are primarily online, so where you live does not determine whether you can join.

I’m in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City occasionally. When I am, I’ll try to organise something hybrid so we can meet in person.

How do I pay, and when?

After you register interest, if there’s a class with room, I’ll send you a link to the store front. Payment is by bank QR code.

You prepay for credits, and one credit is spent each time you attend a weekly session.

What if I miss a session?

There are no separate make-up sessions. Every session is recorded, so you can catch up on anything you miss.

My time slot has no class running, what happens?

Once you register interest, I’ll email to confirm whether there’s a class running at a time you’re free that you can sign up for.

If there isn’t, you go on the waitlist, and I’ll reach out again once there’s enough interest for me to open that slot.

With 30 students, will I actually get feedback on my speeches?

I can’t get through 30 people’s work in one session, so I won’t pretend otherwise.

I select work from students who volunteer it and engage during the session, anonymise it, and review it with the class.
